We wrote a book!

This is all a bit fancy sounding, isn't it?

In 2022, we met a book publisher at an event, who said they thought we had an interesting story, and would we like to write a book about it?

We said we've never written a book before, but we agreed, the stories of artists we've met since we started Short Supply in 2019 are nothing short of inspiring (no pun intended) and if we were to write a book, we want it to be centred around them.

And so here we are introducing our really real book, 517 Degrees!

517 Degrees celebrates five years of MADE IT, the graduate art prize for the North West, established in 2019. It’s about an idea, which became an art prize, which became the springboard of an organisation, but it’s also about our personal journey of navigating the “creative industries”— whatever that really means. It features all the artists who have exhibited in MADE IT over the last five years, with a foreword by Julie Lomax and essays by guest writers exploring the art landscape in the region. There's more than a few laughs along the way, too.

The book is now available to preorder online here on our website, on Amazon and Shopify, and will be available to buy from our stand in-person at the Manchester Art Fair 2024. It will also be available in book shops across the country from December, so look out for it in a store near you!
